Project Purpose

As the City continues to grow south of the Swan Creek Diversion, there is an increasing need to provide safe pedestrian connectivity to these areas. The new Prairie Skies residential/commercial development and park and several new and existing businesses south of the Swan Creek Diversion along Highway 18 will all significantly increase pedestrian activity along the highway. It is the City’s intent to be proactive in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all modes of travel to destinations throughout the City.

Project Scope

The project will provide a safe pedestrian route to the southern area of the City, which involves constructing a 10’ wide concrete path from Cottonwood Drive to Gordy’s Travel Center along the west side of Highway 18. The project will also include a pedestrian bridge crossing the Swan Creek Diversion.
