This page will provide residents and business owners with updates regarding project-related information.

Front Street Forward: Downtown Casselton Revitalization
June 10, 2026 Construction Update

Crews continue to work on one block of 8th Ave and one block of Front Street. As work moved further into Langer, a gravel road bump was installed to bypass sewer flow and keep traffic flowing in the north bound lane. Langer remains fully open at this time, please just slow down at the Front Street intersection as workers are quite close to traffic.

The Langer/Front intersection is scheduled to be closed around June 22 (dates are approximate at this time). There will be a 30-day time period that traffic will be diverted to the 6th Ave North railway crossing.

Each phase of construction is expected to last 60 days, therefore phase 1 on 8th Ave N should reopen before the end of July.

Downtown is open for business! There are sidewalk mats to the front doors of your favorite businesses and barricades to keep you and the construction separated. Please continue to support our locally owned shops and services; they need you more than ever. Follow them on Facebook as many are providing updates and photos of the project along with offers to their great customers.

Project Purpose

The downtown district’s streets and sidewalks, originally built in the 1950s, are now showing significant wear. Many are in poor condition, and the aging underground utilities, including lead water service lines, may require replacement. This project aims to revitalize the downtown area by modernizing its infrastructure, improving safety, and ensuring long-term functionality for the community.

Project Scope

This project will revitalize the downtown area of Casselton by reconstructing and updating underground utilities, streets, sidewalks, lighting, and other improvements.

Community Voices Shaping the Future of Downtown Casselton

Public input has played a critical role in shaping the vision for this project. Throughout the planning process, and thanks to a grant from the Casselton Area Community Foundation, we’ve gathered feedback from Casselton residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to better understand community priorities and needs. To the left, you’ll find summaries of that input, including survey results and recommendations from our social design consultant. These documents reflect the ideas, hopes, and concerns shared by the community and how they’ve informed the project direction.

Public Input Meeting

A public input meeting was held with directly impacted downtown business owners to discuss the preliminary Construction Phasing and Access Plan on November 17th, 2025. A recording of that meeting can be seen here.
